Melville is so long winded he puts me to sleep.

And now I’m going to go reread Huckleberry Finn.  I understand Mark Twain/Samuel Clements is one of the best American writers, but Huckleberry Finn is not his best work.

Tom Sawyer was better than Huck Finn.  The story was better and far more interesting than following a kid and a black guy down a river.

And, as horrible as it sounds, I’m sick of talking about slavery.  It’s all we’ve done since the beginning of the semester four weeks ago, and there are no points out there that we haven’t talked about in class.  

Yes, slavery is a horrible, terrible thing and it should be taught more elementary and middle schools and not glossed over as much.  It just makes it worse later on when you’re teaching these things to twenty-somethings who want to voice their opinion on it multiple times.
